Interesting correlation between knee injections and PLMD
If any here are familiar with my story, you know that I treat my periodic limb movements with a TENS Unit. As the years have passed my degree of "healing" is such that I can skip nights without using the TENS, although those nights are few in a row and largely unpredictable. When it's going to be a really rough night my legs will be very restless with lots of unintentional position changing while watching TV. I know to not try to skip the TENS those nights. I have painful arthritic knees. When they flare, laying down is worst for me, as it feels like I'm being stabbed in the knee with a hot knife. I recently spent a couple months sleeping upright in my recliner with my feet raised as that works best for my knees. And for my limb movements. Minimal issues sleeping like this. Finally broke down and went and had a steroid and gel injections in my knees. About 3 weeks in I found I could sleep in my bed several hours before the pain started, some nights even up to 8-9 hours. Oddly, I have been back in my bed for about 3 weeks and haven't needed to use the TENS Unit yet - probably a record for me. Just wondering now if my bone on bone knee issues are damaging nerves that are related to my limb movements. Has anyone else seen an improvement in their nighttime RLS/PLMD symptoms after getting knee injections?

Happy to hear you have been sleeping better, and in bed.

Re: Interesting correlation between knee injections and PLMD
There have been enough mentions of this sort of thing that I've wondered what it means. I can't remember specifics, and I don't hear of it often, but it seems that damage to bones or joints of the back or legs can cause WED/RLS (perhaps PLMs), and conversely, healing of that sort of damage can lead to a diminishing of WED/RLS.
Beth - Wishing you a restful sleep tonight
