being on top of things
being on top of things
Thanks Lynne, Jan and Ann for being on top of things and keeping this board clean and used for RLS and nothing else.
You guys are doing a great job and really appreciate it. We sure have some sick puppies in this world.

Yep - most of them are bots - programs designed to get in thousands of boards like this. What's amazing is what a program can do to get through. We have like three layers of filtering, and still get at least 20 registrations and over 5 of them get through and actually post.
It truly isn't personal. They don't even know what we write about in here. Heck, some of the people who wrote the programs might even have RLS, lol.

What's funny is there's always like one or two "views" to the "Bot threads". And you know what happened...somebody's just scrolling down the new threads not even paying attention to the "Topic" and end up clicking on the darn thing. Just minding your own business, reading about Requip and PLMDs and Insurance coverage, next thing you know you've stumbled into the terrifying world of world travel or hard core pornography. It's happened to me a couple times and I freak out...trying to find the quickest way out thinking I'm going to get some computer destroying virus just from just reading the message...falling out of my chair trying to get to the mouse. ABORT! ABORT! ABORT!
Maybe I'm a little high strung, I don't know.

Today an unfamiliar number showed on my caller ID. I was busy, anyway, and didn't answer it. Turns out to be a reporter from WSMV, Nashville.
She has RLS. She augmented, both severely and quickly, to Requip. As an investigative reporter, she started researching. She found our board. It was one of the only places she found that helped her identify the problem and get the knowledge she needed to make better decisions about her treatment. All is better; she is off the Requip, on Tramadol, and the augmentation all reversed.
My point? Especially in this thread. . .
It's that it's not the mods that make this board what it is. It's the willingness of its members to go above and beyond, helping others, ensuring the everyone who gets here can get quality, accurate and important information along with a healthy dose of empathy that makes this board a special place. If we were only empathetic, it would be good. If we were only informative, it would be good. But, we've managed to combine them, creating a very different, supportive, and open experience than many other message boards.
The piece will air in a few days on their 10 o'clock news. It will probably be available on their website by early next week (the post it online after it airs). Without all of us, who knows? Not only would there not have been this news piece to help everyone know the dangers of augmentation (and taking a drug when you're not sure you need it) and to inform many others and get out the word, but the reporter herself might have had a different outcome.
