Does clonazepam cause depression?

Post by umpwidow »

Used it one night. Cried all day. Says it can be a MILD side effect. Anyone else experience this?

Wow, that must be awful. So sorry you are going through that. It doesn't do that to me. . . but Mirapex did! How weird these meds are that they work so differently for us all. It's not considered one of the better drugs because of the long half-life; maybe because of this you can convince your doctor to try something else. You may have already tried other things, but if not, please look at the Mayo Clinic algorithm and take it to your doctor. Or look at the So Cal Support groups website and look at the information about all the meds if you haven't been there.

These posts also have lots of other good info.

purrball,

It was a psychiatrist who rxed the clonazepam for me. She was working with the neurologist (he didn't know that this was the path she was taking). I high tailed it into my GP two days after this post and he confirmed that clonazepam can cause depression.

GP recommended half the dose. This didn't depress me, but didn't let me sleep either.

Today the neurologist took away the clonazepam and gave me requip. Don't know yet how it will work, but crossing my fingers.

purrball, get an opinion on the clonazepam. The dose I was on was killer.

Sending you strength.
Jamie
