Yes, for me it is good news. I went to my neurologist yesterday. He is new to me, I have only been to him 3 times. He put me on Mirapex, and it is working, so far. Hope it continues, along with .5 mg. of Klonopin.
Anyway, I printed out the Mayo Clinic Algorithm, and gave it to him along with the booklet for physcians that the RLS Foundation sent me when I became a member. I wondered how he would react. He gladly accepted it and said he would read it. He sat and looked through it briefly. He also gave me sample of the Mirapex, which I was glad to get because it is so expensive.
He is young, only in practice a year. He admitted to me that I probably knew more about RLS than he did. But when I thought about what he said, I thought, well he is honest. And it seems he is willing to learn more. So it was a good visit.
Just thought I would let you all know. Don't hesitate to take this material to your doctor. Even though they don't know alot, at least now they know such a condion exists.

Re: Good news
Thanks to rls.org, I have learned so much about my condition. I have received encouragement from my friends here. This is a site I can come to when I am up most of the night, and I vent, and know those who read my messages understand

This is exactly how my GP reacted when I gave him the Algorithm.
Doesn't it give you hope.

That he was willing to listen...that's worth a lot. Truly.
