The lighter side of WED/RLS

Post by Yankiwi »

I don't for a moment think WED/RLS is funny but there are some quirky offshoots when we have restless legs.
• We don't wake up with a stiff neck from sleeping too well.
• SRO events are no problem to us.
• Housework gets done in the middle of the night, freeing up our daytime hours.
• Standing burns more calories than sitting.
• We have an in-built exercise program.

Indeed! My house has benefited many, many times from my nocturnal wanderings.

I've been doing a bit of writing on a political blog. I find I have an advantage at times because I can see breaking news at midnight and publish about 3 or 4 AM - before most of the other bloggers on this site are awake - and be the first post many people see. It's like I get the jump on it, lol. They can fight over how to have their work be seen during the day when they all see the news :-).

Here's one more:
We probably don't have to worry about deep vein thrombosis on long flights, for two reasons:
a) we avoid going on long flights (I almost typed frights, which would be accurate)
b) on a plane we can't stay still long enough for it to develop

Yes! My husband & I flew to Hawaii, a 6 hour flight, in May and I didn't worry about deep vein thrombosis because I was pretty active. Usually I keep reminding myself to wiggle and move my legs but not this time. It is good to find humor with this beast.

Wonderful! I exercise at night. I never feel like doing it during the day, even though I have the time.

Yes; I became extremely limber during my pramipexole withdrawal as I was doing a yoga routine 3 or 4 times a night.

Amazing how much we can get done while others are sleeping (and how we'd love to join them if we only could).
