How and who to see at sleep center?

I am really thinking about going to one of the sleep centers. Either Houston or Atlanta since I am in South Ms. How do I go about doing that and which place is better? Which Dr. is best? Is it really worth it? My Dr. here in Ms. doesn't know what to do with me. I have used many of the usual meds. but I can't find anything that works anymore. That is, anything that the dr. will prescribe for me. I spend everyday trying to recover from the night before, but never ever sleeping more than an hour occasionally.

Rather than a sleep center, you would be better off with one of the Foundation recognized Quality Care Centers. There is one in Houston and one in Atlanta. It doesn't matter much which one from the standpoint of the care that you would receive. It is simply a question of which one is easier to get to, costs less for travel and most importantly, which one you can get into the quickest since the Quality Centers often the first available appointment is several months away.

I would guess you are closest to Atlanta. Dr Rye is there, if I remember correctly. I've not met all of the doctors who've served as advisers to the Foundation, but about ten years ago I met many of them at a series of Foundation events. While I admire them all for what they do for all of us, Dr Rye was the one I immediately connected with. He is down to earth, has a sense of humor similar to mine (instant connection when that happens) and he has RLS! While I think every one of these really good doctors has a sense of what RLS is and how it affects us, he really gets it. He knows what we go through.

Short of it? I'd see him in a heartbeat!

Absolutely, get an appointment at one of the RLS Quality Care Centers, and spend your savings to get to it if you need to! We deteriorate so gradually that without really thinking about it, we continually adjust our conception of what "normal" is, until we accept as "normal" situations we would have regarded as dire only a few years ago.

Life sucks with no sleep. Seeing a QCC is probably the best thing you could do, and luckily you have one fairly close. It may take a few visits, but you will be seen by someone who has seen and treated other cases of severe WED, and I bet you'll not regret it.

Thank you all who responded. I did mean quality care center and not sleep center.
