Valentine Day - What's your favorite (romantic) movie
Ok, everyone.
Something that is not WED.
Today is Valentine's Day.... (commercialised I know !! )
So for a bit of fun.... what is your favorite movie, romantic movie would be in keeping with the theme of the day...
If the guys don't have a favorite romantic movie.... well.... a favorite movie will do
I'll start with Love Story. I was in the cinema with my other half (of that particular time)... Oh.. towards the end I cried and sobbed.
The woman on the other side of me took my hand and tried to console me. When the movie was finished I was still sobbing on the
way out, just couldn't stop. No movie since has ever had that affect.

I cry watching commercials! I have a defective empathy gene - it's in hyperdrive, lol.
Hmmm, not sure....Princess Bride is way up top. Brokeback Mountain was excellent. I liked Sideways, too. Babette's Feast, too. No such thing as choosing only one!

Gone with the Wind. Made in around 1938, way before I was born, but still my favorite romantic movie by far.

It gets difficult for me to watch the more recent movies of this genre if watching a movie together - hubby needs a courtroom scene, security forces, complicated plot... blah blah.

"Something's Gotta Give" with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson
I love this movie.
I love this movie.

Polar Bear
I think "shadowboxer" with cuba gooding jr would be a lovestory your husband might sit through. It's complicated and action but based on a very bizarre love.

Haven't heard of Shadowboxer. I'll google it. It's always good to have a movie recommendation.
Deb: Hubby won't watch Jack Nicholson !! And I think he's superb.
Yes, I could watch stuff on my own but I really really really prefer to watch a movie with someone.

Shadowboxer doesn't sound like it's a love movie--it's about a couple that murder's for hire, but they are a very odd coupl and it becomes very much about the drama between them that is based on a love so dep it's hard to figure out I bet half the folks that watch it think it's disgusing and the other half would be moved to the core. Very deep movie.

What is that old movie where they are going to meet on the empire state building and the lady is in wreck and the guy thinks she stood him up? He sees her again and she is on the couch and won't get up (crippled) and he figures it out? My wife would literally cry watching that one...

Re: Valentine Day - What's your favorite (romantic) movie
I cry at parades , especially with bagpipes; I cry when fire engines go by, I cry at movies, I cry in books. In fact I just went through agony getting through Junot Diaz' "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao". I should have KNOWN from the title and reviews...... but I bawled my eyes out and experienced a physical pain (in my chest?) as I forced myself to finish the book.
Defective gene for sure . I even cried once at a political parade; that'/'s when I knew someting was seriousluy wrong with me
