I am so glad you've made it through the weekend and hope that today Tuesday is better for you.

My fingers will be crossed that your neurologist tomorrow will be more receptive and responsive than anticipated.
My own neurologist visit some years ago was a waste of time and money, his arrogance exceeded his RLS knowledge and compassion. The waiting list in UK to see a neurologist was so long that I paid personally to go privately which I wouldn't have minded if he had known what he was talking about.
As commented by Views - ""it is indeed frustrating when you know more than they do and they won't listen to anything to expand their view.""

We can hope that each appointment that we have with a neurologist leaves him/her a little more informed.

My neurologist's nurse just called. He wants me to try trazadone for sleep. I have a vague memory of trying it in the mid 90's as an antidepressant add-on but I wasn't on it very long and I don't remember the side effects. I've googled it - one possible side effect is "restlessness". Is that pharmaceutical speak for RLS?

Well, at least he's trying to help. That's good.

My actual in person appointment with this guy is on Thursday. I've made a very neat summary of my RLS experience since the pramipexole stopped working and that is going with me along with a request to have it put in my medical record. I'm still keeping the log and will give it to the sleep specialist when I see them, too.

Walked so much last night/early am that my legs are shaking. Hey, maybe I won't have to jiggle them on my own!

Hugs to you all!

Perhaps you can gently tell him on Thursday that you wont be able to sleep unless your WED/RLS symptoms are controlled. If you still have trouble sleeping after that, then maybe yu could try a sleep aid, but while the symptoms are going on, no sleeping pill will work. All it will do is make you brain-dead as you continue to walk around - dangerous, because you stumble and walk into things.

I am sad that he doesn't know this.

There;s also the question of why people want to prescribe anti-depressants for sleep when there's perfectly good medication out there designed for sleep issues.

I like your "gently tell him". I'd like to do that but I'm sure I'll cry and reinforce his opinion that all I need is an antiidepressant/sleep aid.

Gotta walk...

Trazedone is used for sleep, I think, much more than for depression. It did help me stay asleep. It did nothing good or bad for the RLS.

Thinking positive that the ropinirole will calm the RLS and the trazadone will put me to sleep then :D .

Dreaming big here: The nausea will go away and the ropinirole will stop the RLS forever and ever and the trazadone will help me sleep and as a side effect will lift this depression (that just won't go away) and I'll lose 35 more pounds and the cardiologist will tell me I can eat chocolate again and stop salting my food and...

Oh, forget about dreams for me. Imma dream really big:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tomorrow researchers at Notpfizer pharmaceutical company announce they have discovered the cause of primary and secondary RLS/PLMD and have released a new treatment. This new drug completely and permanently eliminates the dopamineseretoninferritengeneticwhateverthingiethatmakesyourlegscreepycrawlyandorkick. Studies show that the drug is effective on first use in 100% of test subjects. Side effects include a reset of circadian rhythms, eight hours of interrupted sleep during the night, elimination of cravings for sweets and carby foods, elimination of pain, and elimination of depression. Notpfizer is providing the drug free of charge to anyone who has tried anything (including soap under the mattress) to relieve their restless legs or PLM.

Researchers note that components of this drug will be used to cure MS, fibromyalgia, lupus, PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, other mental illnesses, diabetes, autism, Alzheimer's, Lewy Bodies Dementia (RIP Mom), cancer, amputations, Parkinson's, cardio and pulmonary diseases, smoking, addiction, trolls, refugees, and terrorism.

Funding for the research and development of the drug came from grants provided by the world's 50 wealthiest people and 100 wealthiest corporations (before taxes-that-should-be-paid but aren't and write-offs). No animals were harmed during the clinical studies and all drug components are naturally occurring, sustainable substances.

Fantastic post :D :D

I wish we could share your "dream" in a larger forum, but I would be afraid that someone might not appreciate the irony and satire and would actually believe it.

Oh, should we take it down in case someone takes it seriously? I'm a huge fan of humor as medicine but totally get that it doesn't always translate well via the interwebz.

Absolutely NOT!! We need all the humor that we can get, especially on this site since we are a gathering place for the "worst of the worst" when it comes to seriousness of RLS cases. In my comment above, I was thinking about reprinting it someplace else, like the Nightwalkers magazine. That is where I would fear someone might actually take it seriously.

Whew! Glad I didn't do something stupid. If you really wanted to print it in Nightwalkers, we could add a disclaimer and probably change the "notpfizer" name to something else.

Help, that was funny, I am still chuckling! Nice one! Why not send it on to Nightwalkers and see what the editors think? It's more or less the same readership as this board, and the piece could easily be flagged as humorously wishful and unfortunately untrue.
