America's next big drug crisis

Post by Stainless »

Bloomberg had an article today about America's next big drug crisis; Benzodiazepines

I've been on clonazepam for over 20 years and would love to find an alternative but have yet to. I tried for over a year to switch to DAs, Gabapentin, Kratom, supplements and even nothing at all. The only path I have not explored is opiates which does not seem to be much of an option. It took me six months to get off clonazepam using gabapentin only to turn my RLS into a 24/7 problem. I spent most of the year on extended release Requip that just made me miserable.

I originally quit clonazepam becasue of a large Canadian study linking use to an increase in the chance of Alzheimer’s. I'm not sure where that research stands now because a University of Washington study did not find that. But I was sure I was doing the right thing to quit after the withdrawals. My doctor was the one who suggested I go back on clonazepam which gave me back most of relief I had gotten before. Taking the year off just seemed to make things worse when the doctor, specialist and I thought it might reset the dosage lower.

Now it is wrapped up in the opiate dilemma.

It's always something...

Seems we (humans) have a hard time with the middle, doesn't it? We swing from one side to the other...
