Alpha Stim again

Please share your experiences, successes, and failures in using non-drug therapies for RLS/WED (methods of relief that don't involve swallowing or injecting anything), including compression, heat, light, stretches, acupuncture, etc. Also under this heading, medical interventions that don't involve the administration of a medicine to the body (eg. varicose-vein operations, deep-brain stimulation). Alpha Stim again

Post by Joanie60 »

Hi guys!

I searched the index and found a thread from 2007, updated in 2010, about Alpha Stim. My RLS doc brought it up to me today. The price is awfully steep (I haven't checked with insurance company yet) and my RLS runs all over my legs. I am not sure where I would put the probe because the twitches/itches/creepy-crawlies are in six different locations at once...but seldom the SAME six locations on any given day.

I sleep well because of methadone. I would use this to hopefully lower my dose. I don't need it for depression or anxiety or insomnia.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi Joanie60!

Lowering the dose - always a good thing!

I have an Alpha-Stim. It helps me with pain, but not with RLS.
