Welcome to Aelliott37

Post by Rustsmith »

Monday, September 10

Welcome to

Aelliott37, who has had severe RLS since she was 17. She is now 7 months pregnant and its only gotten worse, which she didn't think was possible. Just looking for some support and maybe advice as to how to manage it while pregnant, and then while breast feeding since she needs to be conscious of what she is putting in her body.

Take a look around, especially at our forum on Special Populations, which includes issues associated with pregnancy. And please post a note asking any questions that you have so that our members can share their experiences with you.

This is probably the best place to discuss RLS with other patients, so please post a note telling us about yourself, how you manage your RLS and asking any questions that you have.

Welcome to lorinlegs

Thursday, September 13

Welcome to

lorinlegs, who suffers from RLS and can't seem to determine what causes it. Also, typical treatments like magnesium and iron don't seem to help. She would like to see if anyone else has any ideas of things that might help.

For some of us, the cause is genetic and there is nothing we can do about it other than go onto prescription medications. Please post a note telling us the various things that you have tried so that we can offer you some suggestions.

Welcome to Sleepless in Florida

Post by Rustsmith »

Friday, September 14

Welcome to

Sleepless in Florida, whose husband has RLS. They are an older couple but just recently got married. His RLS was extremely severe with violent kicking. She finally had to sleep elsewhere. He blames her for being a light sleeper, which is another issue. They have tried various mattresses but she keeps telling him they need separate (twin) beds. He disagrees. So now the new California Split Twin mattresses have arrived to try out. She is scared and afraid to discuss anything to do with his RLS.

If you use the search function and look for things about sleeping arrangements, you will find quite a bit. I (Steve) and my wife have been sleeping on a pair of California split twins and it allows us to have the best of both worlds, "one" bed but my movements do not bother her because she is on a different mattress. Also, it sounds like your husband has severe PLMS (perioid leg movements in sleep). This is something that is slightly different from RLS, but 85% of us with RLS also have PLMS.

Welcome to Jani67

Saturday, September 15

Welcome to

Jani67, whose RLS has disturbed her sleep many times. It was terrible prior to taking a prescription as well as sleeping medication. If this stops working she will want to see other successful therapies.

Take a look around and you will find many discussions about what works and what doesn't. However, also keep in mind that we are all different and that what works for one person may be totally ineffective for someone else.

Sunday, September 16

Welcome to

anndees, for whom looking back, has had RLS since early childhood, and now, 50 years later, her life is severely impacted by this condition. Her symptoms usually commence upon waking, and last all day, culminating in horrendous symptoms from about 5pm onwards. She knows we won’t die from RLS, but sometimes wishes she could.

Sorry you have to find us, but glad that you did. Please post a note telling us what you are doing to manage your symptoms and asking any questions that you have.

Welcome to Poex6

Post by Rustsmith »

Sunday, September 16

Welcome to

Poex6, who has had severe RLS for 10 years. It's been in her legs, thighs, hips and arms for most of that time. She has daytime symptoms as well as at night and is having symptoms a few times during the day and at night even with medication. She is usually up out of bed between midnight and 3am taking a super hot bath to help alleviate symptoms until she can take another dose of medicine.

Please post a note telling about your medication and the dose. We may be able to discuss some options for improvement to discuss with your doctor.
