Moving to Prescott, AZ - Need a Good RLS Doctor and Methadone

Hi! I currently live in Virginia. I've had RLS for 20+ years. My former doctor led me into augmentation a couple years ago. Fortunately I found someone who helped me work though it and find a viable treatment. Methadone was the eventual solution for me. Since starting this protocol my RLS symptoms have been largely manageable and I'm sleeping well most of the time. Now I'm in the process of moving to Prescott, AZ. I'm worried about finding a doctor there - someone who's good with RLS and ok with continuing to prescribe Methadone. Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. TIA

You might try contacting the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Or try the neurology department at the Univ of Arizona, which is also in Phoenix. Granted those are not in Prescott, but many of us have to drive to find a good RLS doctor.

Closing the loop: I've been in Prescott, AZ for a little over a year now. It's taken nearly all of that time to find a neurologist. At first, I was only able to use the local Sleep Doctor. He's a pulmonologist treating my apnea, and took over care for my RLS. He has supported my severe RLS and continued prescribe methadone as my Virginia doctor had done. He isn't very experienced with refractory RLS and was supportive of me engaging a neurologist. Unfortunately, Prescott is a relatively small town so I had to go to Phoenix. There, at the Barrow Neurological Institute I found Dr. Nikke Niemann. It took several months but I'm finally in and getting the experienced support I needed.

Ugh - that is terrible that it took so long. Glad Drs tried to help you, though, as often they will not.
