Re: Ok to remove pramipexole cold turkey if starting pregabalin

Bill, although they are both in the same category, they are not interchangeable. Pregabalin does not suffer from gabapentin's inconsistent dosing problem. In that regard it is much more like Horizant. And of course there is also the issue of cost. And when it comes to side effects, every medication ...

Re: Tramadol Experience

There are many people with severe RLS who take methadone for many years without increasing the dose or having side effects. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. After about six months, methadone starts causing me to be depressed. I switched to tramadol ER and then started experiencing side effects a...

Re: New Member Augmentation?

Dr B's private practice is located in Downey, CA and he also works at the Stanford Sleep Center. There is also a Foundation Quality Care Clinic in San Diego at the Scripps hospital. Any of those would be great choices. As for the IV iron, the benefit is not immediate. It usually takes about six week...

Re: Is ferritin at 558 something to worry about?

Ferritin at 558 is not something to be worried about, especially after an iron IV. If it were that high naturally, then you might be a candidate for a hemachromatosis genetic test. My ferritin level ran over 600 for several years. I asked about it and was jokingly told that as long as my skin color ...

Re: 1st post after 24 years of RLS

I'm not sure that I understand why it takes weeks to get the results of your hemachromatosis genetic test. Like you, I have a long history of high ferritin (600 or more for several years). Last summer my PCP offered to figure out why my ferritin remained so high and so she ordered a genetic test for...

Re: Step by Step - Augmentation & Requip withdrawal

Becca, the easiest answer to your question is that any opioid will work and the "best" one is the one that has the fewest side effects for you. Unfortunately, the only way to determine that is to try one and if you experience side effects, then try another. Since you will be seeing Dr. B, it is my u...

Re: Trying to sell RLS/WED as a radio program topic

Can anyone help me with statistics/ammunition on how common RLS is and how they could easily fill up around 45 minutes speaking about it? I definitely think that you should give the Foundation a call to talk to Karla Dzienkowski. There are a number of medical publications that give information abou...
