Thanks, Steve. This all makes sense.
I was worried about talking to them because when I had a colonoscopy a few years ago I told them I used kratom, and was told I couldn't use it for a week before the surgery. At that point I really didn't have anything else, and they were not giving me anything ...

Short Term use of Ripinirole
I had a pacemaker put in yesterday, and was told I could not eat or drink anything from midnight before the surgery. I usually manage RLS symptoms by drinking a small cup of orange juice with kratom in it. But this would not work, and even though I make up capsules they tend to upset my stomach. I ...

Re: Statins
Oops. I made a mistake. I think you may need military insurance. My husband is a retired Navy officer, and Express Scripts is through them. But if they can provide it so cheaply, maybe another insurance can as well. I think it would be worth trying.

Re: Statins
I have had high cholesterol for many years, and have never tolerated any statins. The only one I come close to tolerating is a very low dose of Lipitor. After I had a small stroke, my doctor got very busy trying to find some way we could get my cholesterol down.

Re: V.A. unable to adjust my opioid dose
Hi Paul,
My husband is retired Navy as well, and I was also in the Navy for a couple of years. He sees the VA here in Pennsylvania for his hearing loss and diabetic needs. (He was in Vietnam when they were using Agent Orange, and the VA decided that caused his diabetes.)
Anyway, we've found out ...

Re: Blood pressure meds safe for rls
I take Lisinopril 5 mg. I've been taking it for about 6 months, and no problems at all so far. What is interesting, I think, is that I'm quite elderly, and never seemed to need blood pressure meds. Then, one night while I was up with RLS, I took my blood pressure and it was very high. So for the ...

Re: Statins
I was given a statin, and it was odd. It made the RLS worse, but it also felt different--more pain than just restless symptoms. But if kept to an RLS schedule, so for a long time I thought it was okay. But the pain kept getting worse, so I finally stopped taking it, and the pain part of the RLS ...

Re: Oxy dosage not working
Hi Brynmr,
The way you are at the mercy of your Dr. and drug store is one reason I've stuck with Kratom. I order it on the Internet. It works like a mild opioid, and I always have some extra on hand. It also means that I use so little Oxy that just one or two will usually get me through a long ...

Re: Seeing a Hemotologist
I had my 4th iron infusion today, and I feel great except for my left leg, that (during RLS time) is very painful. But only during regular RLS time (middle of night, early morning). Other than that it's fine. Since, except for the leg, I feel great, I started wondering if it could be a statin that I ...

Re: Advice for Overnight Flight
Oh, also for long flights. I always spend whatever I have to get an aisle seat with extra legroom. I usually fly United, and I always set that up ahead of time. And I don't let people switch with me.

Re: Seeing a Hemotologist
So far, I've had three treatments. I don't know yet how much iron I have after each treatment, as I haven't had a chance to talk with the hemotologist yet. And I have at least one more treatment before I see him.
But today, for the first time, I lay down for a nap (something that used to be ...

Re: Seeing a Hemotologist
I’m sorry Charlie, but this whole thing with Hemotologist’s is new to me. And what I learned is that the medical group can prevent one of their doctors from following a RLS protocol. My primary care doc told me I would have to use a doc outside of the big medical group she was in. And Ann’s story is ...

Re: Seeing a Hemotologist
Thanks, Steve. You know, I’ve been thinking lately that I really scored big in finding this group years ago, right when my RLS started getting so severe, Because so many people wrote convincingly about the dangers of DAs, I never took more than the smallest amount for a handful of days, just enough ...
