Most of the drugs in this category will worsen or even cause RLS. Each person is different, but these are drugs that are notorius for causing problems. That said, a few people take different drugs in this class without problems.

Have you tried it yet?

Hi Jaybird and welcome to this group. I have never taken Lexapro so cannot answer your question on that. On the forum that you are on now please go to the sticky post "Managing RLS" as there is alot of info there that maybe of help to you.

Are you seeing a dr regarding your rls? If so, also on the same sticky post there is an excellent article from the Mayo Clinic Algorithm which is worth reading and you may want to print it out and bring it to your dr.

Another good site to read is www.rlshelp.org

We have a chat line every Monday night. It starts at 7pm mountain time. Do not know where you live, but if you are in the states it would be either 8 or 9pm your time. We would love to have you join us. To get to the chat line just type in rls.org and there is a link Resless Leg Syndrome. Click on that and it will have a link there that says Chat.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing. You have found a great support group.

Hi Jaybird and welcome to the group. Unfortunately, most antidepressants do worsen RLS, but sometimes we need to take them anyway. I took Lexapro for about a year, and then went back to Effexor which had worked better for me for a long time. I go very depressed, very fast without them, so quitting them to help the RLS isn't an option for you.

You need to decide for yourself if it's worth it to take them, and to cover the extra symptoms with more RLS meds.

Hi J, Have no experience with Lexapro. Just wanted to say welcome. Hope you will find advice here from those who may be more in the know. Still, pro or con, as was mentioned we are all different so you will have to take what info you get and use your own judgement. In any case, as some of med in this class have been known to cause problems with rls you will be forewarned should odd symptoms/side effects develop. That may be a cue to stop and/or get in touch with you doc for a consult. Best of luck.
